

Manuel William Montaño, born January 30th, 1936 (87 yrs), peacefully entered into eternal life on September 16th, 2023. Manuel was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law James and Cynthia (Prankse), son Michael, his parents Frank and Esther (Gomez) Montaño, his sisters Lilli (Norman) Wood and Mickie Montaño, and his brother Barney (Marion) Montaño.
Manuel is survived by his wife Martha, son Joseph (Teri Moana) Montaño their daughters, Kanoe and Isabel, his granddaughters Devan - her children Michael, Andrés, Manny & Dawn'ae - and Tehya Montaño, his youngest son Marc, and granddaughter Hope Willett. He is also survived by siblings Frank Montaño, Cecilia Harvey, Edward (Norma) Montaño, Claire Baca, Martin (Haydee) Montaño, and Mark (Jeri) Montaño, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Manuel studied Engineering and became a devoted Buffs and Bronco fan at CU-Boulder (’55-’58) before joining the US Army. He was stationed in Germany and vacationed in England and Spain; serving until 1960 before returning to Colorado. He met and married Martha Marquez in Denver, and just before their twin sons were born in 1962, he bought his beloved Ford pickup,affectionately called “The Greenie”.
The couple was blessed with two more sons, Michael in ’68 and Marc in ’71 as Manuel began his career at Mountain Bell, eventually retiring from USWEST in 1993. He enjoyed reading and watching Westerns and shows about history. In particular, he loved visiting with family and reminiscing about his birthplace (McPhee, CO), his childhood in Dolores, CO, and his schooling and work in the mines near Ouray, CO.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at Saint Mark's Catholic Church at 3141 West 96th Avenue, Westminster, CO. 80031.Services begin with a Rosary at 10:00 am, followed by Mass at 10:30 and a Reception to follow at 12:30 pm in the Active Adult Center at 11181 Colorado Blvd., Thornton, CO. 80233.
All are welcome to join the military internment on Wednesday, November 1st at 1:00pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery (10201 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80229).
