Marjorie Alice Schneider (Dunkel), 78, of Thornton, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021 at her home. She was born on August 29, 1943 in Platteville, Colorado to Robert and Marie Dunkel (McGrew).
Marjorie was raised by her endearing mother and father and was one of seven children. Her childhood was spent on the farm. Marjorie attended Adams City High School in the early 1960’s.
As fate and destiny came together, life lead Margie to her soulmate Richard Schneider. Richard and Marjorie were married on June 2, 1962. Richard worked and retired from IBM and Marjorie was a stay at home mom. They planted their roots in Thornton for the last 49 years. Marjorie and Richard were blessed with three children, Lonnie D Schneider (Linda), Cindy L Gautier (Kirk), and Lori A Moore (Gabe). As Marjorie raised her family, Christmas was always a big deal for her. Making candy and making sure everyone had something to open on Christmas; and it was always more than enough.
Marjorie always managed to watch and listen to polka music whenever she could and also loved to dance to it whenever possible. During this time she welcomed seven grand-children and twelve great-grandchildren into the world. Marjorie’s heart was always filled with joy whenever she could help anyone in need, whether it was family or friends. She made it a point to go out of her way to do whatever needed to be done and her home was always open to all.
Marjorie always made sure that the house was decorated to the max at Christmas time, both inside and outside. She loved watching all open gifts on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. The grandkids and great-grandkids made her light up with joy on these days.
If you were to ask Marjorie of her favorite past time, you would need to sit down and let her go through each memory. She enjoyed family time the most. Marjorie was very close to her sisters and they shared a very special bond. They liked to dress alike and match one another at family gatherings. Marjorie and her sisters often spent each other’s birthday at the casino, and any other opportunity that she could. Marjorie always loved to go on vacation but she had to make sure family was with her; we can’t remember a vacation without family present. Marjorie loved camping, fishing, bargain hunting, and garage sales.
Marjorie was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending every moment with family and friends. Her strength to survive her disease for the past eleven years lives on within each of us. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of being a part of her life.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Mayfield and Richard E Mayfield; and her sister, Mabel M Moore. She is survived by her husband, Richard A Schneider; her son, Lonnie D Schneider (Linda); her daughters, Cindy L Gautier (Kirk) and Lori A Moore (Gabe); brothers, Robert Mayfield (Saundra), Robert Dunkel Jr.; sister, Mary E Schott (Albert); grandchildren, William Redshaw (Amanda), Mathew Glover (Ashley), Tommy Schneider (Janice), Ashley Gilmore (Thomas), Nicholas Gautier (Tiffany), Dalton More, Morgan Moore; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Glover, Brody Glover, Clive Redshaw, Alainah Gilmore, Bentley Gautier, Tori Gautier, Maverick Moore, Paisley Gautier, Paxton Gautier, Delaney Schneider, Emma Moore, and Lorelei Schneider.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO. Marjorie will be laid to reset at Olinger Highland Cemetery, the same day. Following the interment, the family will host a reception at Imperium Event Center, 500 Malley Drive, Northglenn, CO.
