Mercedes Erminda Johnson

Mercy E. Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 5, 2024 in Thornton Colorado. She was born on October 2, 1936 in San Pablo, Colorado to the late Bentura Roybal and Eufelia Atencio Roybal.

Mercy grew up in San Pablo, Colorado. She attended and graduated from Mercy High School in San Luis, Colorado in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado with her sister Wilma. She then met and married Arthur Johnson on October 30, 1958. She worked for many years (“In heels!”, as she would say) at AT&T.

Family was very important to Mercy. She was a kind and giving mother and grandmother. She gave with all of her heart. She loved spending time “up the Hill” playing the slots with her husband.

Mercy is survived by her daughter, Star; precious grandchildren, Shannon, Jesse, Anthony, Brianne, and Rachelle; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Aaron, Gianna, and Brandon; siblings, Ernest and Juanita; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mercy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur; her beloved children, Donna and Gregory; and siblings Luis, Levi, Ben, and Wilma.

In honor of Mercy, mass will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 22, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 11385 Grant Dr. Northglenn, Colorado, followed by burial at Highland Olinger Cemetery in Northglenn. Reception is at 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at the American Legion, 11081 Irma Dr. Northglenn, Colorado.
