Milagros "Millie" Latta

Milagros (Millie) Latta, aged 86, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025 at her home in Thornton, Colorado. She was born on July 8, 1939 in Manhattan, New York to Basilisa Torres and Nazario Casas. She grew up in Spanish Harlem, speaking English and Spanish and raised her two children Denise and Glenn Meadows in the Bronx.

Millie married Harry Latta on May 9, 1987 in Huston, Texas and settled in Thornton Colorado. When Millie first moved to Colorado in 1976, she worked for The Denver Department Store. She then worked as an Environmental Surgical Technician prepping surgical rooms for Valley View Hospital then North Suburban Medical Center, where she retired after 20 years. Millie was known for her exceptional work ethic and was recognized amongst her peers.

Millie was a faithful member of Trinity Christian Fellowship for over 40 years. She had a quiet spirit but never hesitated to share her faith throughout her various life experiences. She enjoyed participating in numerous women’s events through the years. Millie was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for the VFW where she participated in many community fundraisers.

Millie had many gifts and talents. She loved to sew, had a green thumb in the garden, had a great eye for painting and decorating, and most of all, was an amazing cook. She always enjoyed cooking for those who came to her home. Millie had a warm and loving heart – she never knew a stranger.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, daughter, Denise, sister, Nancy, brother, Edward and her nephew, Jim. She is survived by her children Glenn Meadows, (Cyndi), Kim Latta, sister, Esther Casas-Clavell, grandchildren, Michael Joseph Meadows, Brian Zeolla, Aaron E. Jones, Cassandra Grigsby, five great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Dignity Hospice and Visiting Angels (Living Assistance Services). These two organizations were especially meaningful to Millie's family as they were a big part of her care.
