Born on June 1, 1941, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Gay Bryan, her sister, Janice Ard, and her parents, John and Pauline Shipley. She is survived by her children, Scott and Susan Bryan of Round Rock, Texas, and Becky and Jayson Van Horn of Thornton, Colorado, as well as her brother, John "Pocket" Shipley. Nancy (Ninney to her grandchildren) was a beacon of love and support to her five grandchildren and their spouses: Calvin and Missy Bryan, Jenna and Freddy Rodarte, Caroline Van Horn, Alec Van Horn, and Andrew Van Horn.
Nancy's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication and passion. A proud graduate of U.S. Grant High School, Class of 1959, Nancy was involved in sports and student government, leaving a remarkable mark on her alma mater. She embarked on a fulfilling career, serving with distinction at the Oklahoma State Board of Engineers, various banks in the Oklahoma City area, and the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. During her time here, she was named as the Honorary Secretary of the National Cattlemen's Association.
Nancy's artistic talent stretched far and wide, reaching beyond her professional endeavors. She shared her passion for painting through teaching classes across the United States and authoring six instructional books, including a pioneering fabric painting book in 1987.
She found joy and camaraderie in the game of bridge, spending cherished hours with friends at tournaments and gatherings. Upon her retirement, she redirected her energies towards her greatest treasures: her grandchildren, bridge, and her art. In 2015, Nancy made the move to Thornton, Colorado, to be nearer to her daughter and her family.
A celebration of her life will be held this summer in Oklahoma with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated, reflecting Nancy's spirit of generosity and compassion.
