Olivia was born on April 21, 1922 to Walter A. Leimer and Elma Schlecht Leimer in Bremen Kansas, the 6th of 8 children. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran School, where her father was the teacher. After completing 8th grade, Olivia traveled to Marysville, KS, and was required to work for room and board in order to attend Marysville High School. Following graduation, she moved to Wichita where she met and married Charles W. Pearson. Olivia followed Charlie from airbase to airbase as he trained as an Army Air Corp pilot in World War II. After the war, Livie and Charlie returned home to Wichita, Kansas to raise their children Charles Jr. and Karen.
Charlie was recalled for the Korean War in 1951, moving the family to Rapid City, SD., where he served in the Strategic Air Command. In 1953, the family settled in Denver Co., and Livie began working at Western Distributing Co, as the office manager, installing an ordering computer system in the 1960’s. After raising their children, Livie and Charlie enjoyed dancing to Big Band sounds, traveling and entertaining. In 1981 the couple retired, moving to the Villages in Green Valley, AZ.
While Charlie hit the links in Green Valley, Livie brushed up on her culinary skills, and continued her hobbies of knitting and crocheting. They also hosted an annual “12th night Party” for friends, where Livie provided a feast and Charlie entertained attendees with poems for each party goer. Never ones to stand still, they both worked part-time into their 80s. Following the loss of her husband, Livie returned to Denver where she was supported and cared for by family.
Livie was a woman of faith, a lifelong member of the LCMS. Following Proverbs 22:6 to raise up her children in the faith, she ensured they attended Lutheran elementary and high schools, supporting church missions and seminaries. She gave generously of her time, treasure and talents to God serving as church secretary in Wichita and donating her computer skills to churches in Green Valley and Tucson.
Livie and Charlie had two children - Pastor Charles W. Pearson, Simi Valley, CA, and Karen Jacoby of Denver, CO; five grandchildren - Pastor Jeremy Jacoby and Erica Jacoby of Thornton, CO, Charles W. Pearson and Rebecca Carter of Orange, CA, and Kristi Maar of Simi Valley, CA; and eight great grandchildren - Christian Beyreis, Thornton, CO, Olivia Beyreis, Asoka, MN, Jessica Jacoby and Johanna Jacoby of Thornton, CO, Amelia Pearson and Audrey Pearson of Orange, CA and Abigail Carter and William Carter of Orange, CA.
