Otero and Victoria Otero (Magallanez). He attended school and grew up in the Greeley area.
Danny married Mary “Louise” Martinez and they had four sons -- Harold, Paul, Bill, and Mark.
In 1953, Danny enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He received an
honorable discharge in February 1957. After service to his country, Danny went to work and
drove for many companies throughout his career. With many days on the road, he was always
glad when he returned home to his family. The family resided in Commerce City and Thornton.
Danny was a man of many talents. If there was something that needed fixed or repaired, he
was all in to figure it out. His Air Force experience helped him in many ways, especially when it
came to mechanical endeavors. In his spare time, Danny would find his way to Blackhawk and
pull some handles on those slots. At times, he had some great success.
In 1998, Danny was introduced to Marilyn McKenzie by his brother-in-law Joe Martinez at the
Denver Broncos Super Bowl party. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship that led to
their marriage in October of 2007. They traveled together to many places including Hawaii.
The two also found time to go to the “hill” sometimes for breakfast or lunch (and to pull some
handles while they were there). They lived in Thornton until Danny’s passing. Marilyn survives
him.
Danny is also survived by his son Harold (Debbie); daughter-in-law Lynette Otero; sister Ruth
Romero (Emil) and brother Mike Otero (Cathy); and Marilyn sons Joe, Kevin (Stacey), James
(Sonja), John and Greg (Stacy). He had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and
nephews, and extended members of the Martinez family. He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Louise; sons Paul, Bill, and Mark; and granddaughter Amy.
