Richard Gene Wendt, 70, of Federal Heights Colorado passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 3rd, 2015. Richard, born December 5th, 1944 was the son of Welton and Anna Wendt and is survived by his brothers Dale Wendt of Arkansas and Dean Wendt of California. In April of 1966 he married Kathryn Gorham and they just celebrated 49 years together. Richard is also survived by his four children Margaret, Kelly, Bradford and Ernest and by his 10 grandchildren Jeffrey, Timothy, Zachary, Alissa, Noah, Bradford Jr., Dante, Bethannie, Braiden, Brodie and 1 great grandchild, Ezekiel all living in the Denver Metro area. Richard worked at Adams County Road and Bridge for 30 years until his retirement in 2011. He loved reading History Books, exploring maps and watching old western shows. Richard also enjoyed poetry, calligraphy, hunting, and playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday the 16th at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street in Thornton. A Luncheon Reception will follow at Destiny Church, 750 W 96th Avenue in Thornton.
