What a beautiful memorial talk!
Rose Lockwood and I knew each other for many years.  Moves and events did separate us; however, we connected again when we both lived in Arvada at Timber Cove.  Her children and my children knew each other as well in the "early" times.
What a great part of the talk to reflect on that she is in a better place--in Jehovah's memory--than we are.  The memory she had of special foods from her childhood.  Certainly something she can express to her loved ones when she is there to greet them in the resurrection!

As a kid, you would all come back to Nebraska every summer. Such fond memories.  Spending time with the cousins.  I have missed  that.  Rose Ann was the best. I can still hear her voice, calling me Shellie.  I'll miss her.

(excerpts from the ‘Clark-Howard Family Recipes and Memories’ book)

In this family recipe book, I’d like to include a tribute to honor my Mom and Dad. To Mom for being a good cook and to Dad for being a good provider.

I don’t remember Mom ever using a recipe book but the meals we had were always tasty and well prepared.  I can remember as a young girl we had a dessert called Green Grape Cobbler.  It was sweet and tart.  Very delicious.

Mom’s oatmeal cookies were out of this world.  They were always big and soft; mine have always been hard and small.

Something my kids liked very much, that only Mom could prepare, was green beans.  Kevin (my son) said nobody could fix green beans like “Grandma”.  

Mom and Dad always had a big garden.  When the potatoes were harvested there were always small ones too small to peel.  We’d scrub them and boil them, then lay them on a cookie sheet and bake them.  My first tater tots – Yummy!  

I can remember that we did a few jobs as a family.  We got a job according to our age...  Corn was a job we did as a bunch.  When the sweet corn was ready Dad would pick it.  We’d shuck and silk all day one day.  The next day Dad would take it (probably a truckload) to Arthur, Illinois to a cannery and have it canned for winter.  I still like creamed corn best.

Sunday was a day of rest.  The folks set this day aside for having company or visiting others.  Many times, we’d make homemade ice cream.  This is one thing I really miss.  We don’t visit others enough or have people in.  I think some of it is because we work in the city and the work goes on.

We all really have a lot to be thankful for.  I wouldn’t want to change the way I grew up.  My parents worked so hard for us and taught us so much.  Being one of the younger siblings I also learned a lot from older brothers and sisters.  I’m also thankful that I came from a big family.  Food and family will always be important to me.

Rose always had a smile on her face at the meetings at the Kingdom Hall and she was so nice to talk with. I enjoyed our conversations so much but also felt sad because of the pain she endured. I am happy to know I’ll see her again when she will be sound in health and have a even bigger smile on her lovely face.❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️❤️❤️💕❤️💕❤️❤️❤️💕 Jean
