On October 31st, 2022, Roy G Gleitz was called home to be with his heavenly father. Roy was born on November 26th, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His father and mother were Elroy and Imagen Gleitz. He had two younger siblings Bobby and Sheri.
When Roy was a child, he moved with his mom and dad to Denver, Colorado and made their life there. He went to Highland High School and graduated in 1973. After graduation he went to work for Silver Tire with his father. He met his wife Debbie Rosa at Roller Rama Skating Rink. They had been together for 5 years when they married on February 14th, 1976. Roy welcomed his first son Paul on December 31st, 1982, and seven years later he welcomed his second son Michael on Dec. 20th, 1989. He went on to own two successful businesses, one in painting and one in investment properties.
Roy’s love of cars never stopped in his lifetime. His first pride and joy was a 69 Mustang Mach 1 he bought new. He then found his 32 Deuce Coupe which needed a lot of work to say the least. But anyone who knew Roy knows, there was no challenge too big. He built it in only a few years, finishing it in 1974. To his amazement, when the movie American Graffiti came out the main car looked just like Roy’s. A radio station asked him to go around with his car to promote the movie. He also found and built from scratch a 1928 Model A Sedan so we could go to car shows as a family with the kids. He built the car from top to bottom, including paint and put in it an all-independent suspension. And boy did we travel to a lot of car shows in that Sedan and had a lot of special memories. Cars and family were Roy’s pride and joy.
Roy would always try to help anybody who needed it rather it be family, friends, neighbors, etc. with any project or anything else someone needed help with. He was also a master wood builder and could build or fix just about anything he set his mind to.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, his sons Paul and Michael, his daughter in law Tonya, his son in law Adam and two grandchildren Natalie and Andrew. Also, by his brother Boddy, his sister Sherri, and his niece and nephews Robert, Anthony, Joseph, Garett, and Gina.
His family was the light of his life and his was ours also.
We will miss him forever.
A visitation for Roy will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery. Entombment will be at Olinger Highland Cemetery
