Shirley C. Garcia

Shirley (98) of Commerce City, Colorado, passed away February 12, 2023. She was born in North Platte, Nebraska, to Herman and Anastacia (Landeros) Caudillo on March 30, 1924. She grew up in North Platte with her thirteen brothers and sisters.

She met Jason Apolonio Garcia in 1945. They married and then moved from North Platte to Commerce City where they lived and raised their five children. She enjoyed cooking, watching the Denver Broncos and her tele-novelas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always made sure that no one went hungry.

She is survived by children, Rebecca “Becky” Montez; Paul (Annette) Garcia, Beatrice “Bea” Garcia Hatch; and son Francisco (Virginia) Garcia. She has 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Jason and son Jason “Gordy” Garcia.

A viewing for Shirley will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A rosary service will occur Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 6:00 PM, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A catholic mass will occur Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Our Lady Mother of the Church, 6690 E. 72nd Ave., Commerce City, CO 80022. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A reception will held at The Yellow Rose Event Center located at 6490 E 72nd Place, Commerce City, CO 80022.
