Tony Prutch passed away on Wednesday February 26th in Denver Colorado at the age of 90. Tony was born in Vineland, CO on July 13, 1923. His family later moved to the town of Hooper, CO in the San Luis Valley. From there they moved to Wigwam, CO and finally settled in at Olney Springs, CO where he worked on the family farm. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 5-7 pm, and a Funeral Service will be on Thursday, March 6, at 10 am, both at Olinger Highland.
Tony led an active life, for 32 years he was a semi-truck driver for Safeway. In his spare time he enjoyed building trellises and wishing wells with his loving wife Modena. They would sell them at the local nurseries. Tony loved the outdoors. You could find him fishing with his buddies, tending to his prize winning roses and peach trees, finding treasures at the flea market and playing horse shoes. He retired from Safeway in 1986 and began his own businesses working on lawn mowers, small engines, repairing chairs and other pieces of furniture. Most mornings you would find him at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center where he spent time with his friends that were more like family to him.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Modena; his parents, John and Jennie Prutch; brothers, Carl and Joe; sisters, Mae Rogers and Rose Newland; son, John Anthony Prutch; and step-daughter Beverly Milligan.
He is survived by his son Charles Prutch and step-son Les Beard. He has numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grand children, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Tony will be terribly missed by all of his family and friends. God bless you Tony!
