Tyler Byron Clark, 72, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on March 29, 2026, in Lafayette, Colorado. Born on January 29, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, Tyler was the son of Betty J. Ford and Ralph Clark, and one of six siblings, the second youngest among them.
Tyler proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the 2nd Infantry Division, where he worked in munitions and developed mastery in Tae Kwon Do. During his Army career, he distinguished himself through discipline and excellence in both his duties and the art of Tae Kwon Do. While stationed in Korea in August 1978, he earned first place in the Tae Kwon Do competition during KATUSA Week, achieving recognition as the top competitor in Korea and receiving an Army commendation letter for his outstanding performance. It was also in Korea where he met and married the mother of his children, Kim. Though they later divorced, that chapter of his life led to the family he loved deeply.
Following his military service, Tyler attended welding school before beginning his career in the workforce. He first worked for a tree company before starting a long and dedicated career with Storage Technology Corporation, where he was entrusted to travel internationally to Puerto Rico and Scotland to support and represent the company. Through many transitions, Tyler remained a constant - loyal, dependable, and hardworking until his passing.
Tyler later married Dian, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage built on love, partnership, and enduring commitment. They married in Arvada, Colorado. Tyler and Dian shared a life full of love and laughter, traveling often to one of their favorite places, St. Thomas, where they enjoyed snorkeling and the culture. Tyler was always a devoted husband and caregiver to Dian, especially during times when she fell ill. His dedication to her health helped restore her well-being, and he remained a tenacious and loving husband, ensuring a comfortable and supportive home for them and their beloved cats: Torrie, Precious, Oreo, Boots, and Beau.
Outside of work, Tyler found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved fishing and camping, playing in pool leagues, and was a true do-it-yourselfer - someone who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. He was also adept in car mechanics and especially enjoyed working alongside his son on car projects, sharing both his knowledge and his time. He would often take on jobs for tree removal in the community, and it was no surprise to find him high up in a tree. He had a deep love for animals and a soft heart for those in need, having rescued and cared for several stray cats and dogs over the years.
As a father, Tyler was intentional in teaching his children mercy, grace, respect, and discipline from an early age, often sharing his knowledge of Tae Kwon Do and instilling its values through both instruction and example.
Known affectionately as “Honey Bunny” by Dian and “Dad Who’s Bad” and “Pops,” by his children and friends, Tyler will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. He taught through example, showing dedication, generosity, and love in both big and small ways. He touched many lives and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Tyler is survived by his wife of 35 years - Dian; his daughter - Gina; his son - Hanme; his sisters - Sharon, Sherry, Kathy, and Casey; Father-in-law - Leonard Portz; Brother-in-law - David Miles; Son-in-law Joseph Cahill, and devoted friends - Nancy Rae and Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his brother - Trent; his mother - Betty; his dad - Leonard; nieces - Alicia and Kimberly; and mother-in-law - Barbara Portz.
Tyler will be deeply missed for his humor, his guidance, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He would want to be remembered with a simple message: be kind, love one another, and face life with spirit - “Tally-ho, off we go!”
