

Walter Waldschmidt, age 75, passed away March 5th, 2014 at Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado. He was born on a farm near Ellis, Kansas on July 31st, 1938; the son of Alex Waldschmidt and Mary (Begler) Waldschmidt.
He attended Ellis Kansas Highschool until the end of the school year in 1956 when he moved with his family to Denver, Colorado.
He worked at Associated Grocers of Colorado starting as a Warehouseman and then moved up to Transportation Dispatcher. He was there until 1986 when the company closed. He joined Adams County School District 12 as a Custodian. When he retired in 2001 he was Head Custodian at North Star Elementary.
He is survived by his wife LouAnn (Schmitt); daughters: Janet (Gene) Schultz of Loveland, CO, Bonnie Waldschmidt of Atlanta, GA, and Stacy (John) Silva of Thornton, CO; grandchildren Eric Schultz, Anne (Ted) Touzalin, Katie (Jeremy) Mclaughlan, Taylor (Brooke) Prather, Amber Prather, Ashley Silva and John-Jay Silva; and great granddaughters Charlotte Touzalin and Allison Mclaughlan.
He is also survived by brothers William “Bill” and David (Debbie) of Ogalala, Nebraska; sisters Gladys (Corky) Gassman of Ogalala, NE and Mary Ann Carlson of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law Marilyn Waldschmidt of Loveland , CO and Darlene Waldschmidt of Denver, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lawrence “L.J”, Alfred “Fritz”, and Alex; sisters-in-law Christie Waldschmidt and Cleopha Waldschmidt; brother-in-law Norman Carlson and nephew David Waldschmidt Jr.
