Ann was born on July 30, 1935 in Tigard, Oregon to Karl and Franziska Buchholz who had emigrated from Germany to the US two years before. Karl and Franziska ran a nursery and florist they established and went on to have Ann’s three younger siblings Karl, Frances and Herman. Ann and her siblings all attended St. Anthony’s Catholic elementary school and Ann remained an active member of the parish for her entire life. After attending St. Mary’s Academy, Ann attended the University of Portland and went on to worked for Western/Delta airlines as a ticket agent from 1957 until she retired in 1988. Her work with the airline enabled Ann to travel extensively, which she loved to do with her large circle of friends and family.
Never one to be idle, Ann was an active, dedicated member of various clubs and organizations. She organized ski trips, walks and numerous events for the Bergfreunde ski club for 39 years. As a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for 33 years, she gave her time to countless charity events. She was an equally engaged member of the Catholic singles organization “Solo” for which she served on the Board for over 30 years. Despite Ann’s numerous commitments and activities, she gave one day of her time every week for 30 years as a Providence Hospital volunteer.
Ann is survived by her sister Frances of St. Raphael, Ca., brother Herman and his wife Joena of Portland, Or., as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, who loved and will miss her dearly.
Rest in Peace, Ann.
