I miss you every day. I can't believe it's been three years since you passed. I hope that Jay is still driving the bus around to take you to some of the beautiful places in heaven to fish.  
Medina and I camped on the Metolius in August. I know that you are still with me, when I saw the biggest fish jump out of the river right in front of me.
Love you forever, and make sure you're waiting at the gate for me.

How I miss you, Tony!  A day doesn't go by that I don't think about you!!  
It's Valentine Day, so I always make sure to carry on your tradition of getting me, and Medina a box of chocolates! 
There are so many memories of our life together.  The camping trips, going on a day picnic, spending a day at Timothy swimming. Going out to dinner, and just enjoying our lives.
I have made your tamales several times now. I share them with family, friends, and a few neighbors.  Our neighbor Jose, said they were Excellent tamales. 
We just had a storm that left me stuck in the house for nine days. First it was snow, then the freezing rain hit. I remember years ago when we had freezing rain, the tree's were crackling, crunching, and we just laid in bed, listening to the sound, hoping nothing hit the house. 
I know that you are always watching over me, like the night you yelled my name "Lynelle" at 2 am.   I woke out of a sound sleep, and thought,  "Oh, I forgot to lock the garage door! Thank you Tony!!
I hope you, and Michael are keeping Jay busy, driving you around in his bus to some great fishing spots!!
I love you, and miss you every day. Behave yourself until I get there!

It has been one year since you left me. I miss you so much and think of you every day.  So many wonderful memories of our life together. 
Staci, Janet and I made a trip to Chicago in November to see your family.  They were having a 60–70-mile windstorm that day, and our flight was delayed 7 hours. We came in at the end of the storm, and the plane was just rocking as we came in for the landing. I remembered your story of coming in for a landing on one of your flights home, and that they made you take the crash position.  All I could think of as we came in for our landing was "please lord, don't make us take the crash position, I don't think I can bend over and grab my knees. Scariest flight ever!!!
We had a nice buffet breakfast at Chula's. We went to Ricobene's for that great Chicago food, along with a pork chop sandwich at Maxwells.  A wonderful visit with Clark & Cindy.  We had a nice dinner with Steve.  We stopped by Peach, and Virgie's. I gave her a pendent with your fingerprint embedded into the silver.  We had a very nice visit with Virgie, who told me you "ALWAYS" loved Fritos.
This has always been my most favorite picture of you, and I. Your love for me will always stay with me, until we meet again in heaven. Don't forget, you said you would wait for me at the pearly gates!
You shared so many stories with all of us, that will always keep you in our hearts. I want you to know, that after your passing, the Vision Gift asked if we would donate your cornea's. It was your wish to be a donor, and about a month after you passed, I received a letter that the cornea transplant was successful. In your passing you gave someone the gift of sight.
Someday soon, I've decided to write a book about your adventures, and our life together. 
  We will miss you forever, you will always be in our hearts. Gracie misses you too!

We sure miss our charismatic, big hearted, pirate Tony. So many memories around the campfire listening to his stories. My girls loved his stories. He was always so proud of the fish Lucy would catch. We would squeal when he would blow up his worms when he was fishing. He would always give us all thoughtful little gifts showing he was thinking of us. So many good memories.  He took care of us and we tried our best to take good care of him too. We love you Frito man. 

Tony will be missed! I loved coming home, looking forward to having dinner with Tony & Lynelle. Tony had the best stories of his adventures and growing up. He was a strong personality.  Warm hugs & kisses to you Lynelle.

I met Tony in 1975 at a gas station that we both worked at in s.e. Portland. We became friends instantly,  And we remained friends over the years, we did alot of things together, some probably not so well thought out. But managed to survive the various not so thought out experiences. One was taking Tony's 4 man inflatable raft across the Willamette river to Ross island. We made it across, but on the way back, the raft, we discovered had a slow leak. We paddled hard, about half way back, a Coast Gaurd cutter came by, We we're yelled at to get that thing out of the water!!  I miss you Brother!! REST IN PEACE!!!       Wes Gunter

I met Tony thru Lynelle when they started dating, it had become obvious to all that it was love at first sight for them.
Roger and I enjoyed spending time with Tony and Lynelle, whether we were camping, going out to dinner or just hanging out, we always had good conversation and enjoyed hearing Tony's stories about his travels, and that continued with Lynelle, as they were able to enjoy many happy adventures together.
Tony loved Lynelle, his children, family and friends and of course his Chicago bears!
You are loved and you will be missed.

Tony joined our family when he married my sister Lynelle.  When Tony joined our family he brought his son Justin with him then he gave us Medina to add to our family.   He taught us how to make taco's with his spices from Chicago, Tony loved to cook.  We had many good trips camping with Tony,  Lyn and the kids. We loved him as a son and brother and will miss him dearly.  Kathy and Mom Eleanor Swenson









Hi Lynelle, WOW a 50 lb Ono! That's a monster! I wish I could have heard Tony tell that story. I didn't know your husband but I know we'd have swapped a few fish stories! May he rest in peace.

Tony, we’ll so miss you and your tales of wild adventure inspiring us to do the same. You were our favorite storyteller, an amazing and supportive father, a loving and generous husband and you were our friend. One who we loved very much. Emma will never forget that you reminded her of a pirate with your gold chain necklace, nor will Lucy ever forget her pride in showing you her prize catch out of Timothy Lake and I will NEVER forget how you blew up your live worms with a little air syringe so they floated like balloons after you cast your line :)  So many wonderful memories and nights around a campfire sharing our lives, we never wondered how much you loved us, and we loved you right back. We’ll take care of your Lynelle, you rest easy now friend. 

Brother, brother Rich here, now you and brother Mike can go fishing whenever you want. And brother Jay can take you to your favorite fishing spot in his bus.

We are saddened  to hear of Uncle Tony’s passing. We  are sure that brother Jay has  welcomed him and is guiding him.  Uncle Tony was an adventurer and lived life to the fullest and did it his way.  Now he is off on another adventure and we are sure it will be done his way too!  Sending all our love - Jay Garcia family.

I would like to share the story about the picture I chose for his memorial.

Tony and I spent 18 days in Hawaii. We spent time in Honolulu. His boss Art and his wife were there at the same time, so we met up and went out to dinner.  We left Oahu to go over to Maui, where we met another co-worker, Burke.
Our last visit was to the Big Island, where Tony wanted to go out marlin fishing. We went down to the fishing docks in Kona to find a boat to go out on. Tony did not want to go on a trip with other people.  So he found a fishing captain that he paid him $300 for a day of fishing.  Tony asked me if I wanted to go out in the ocean, I told him no way, all I would be doing is feeding the fish, I get so sea sick.
Tony, the Captain, and a bait boy sailed away for a day of fishing. 
Tony was at the top of the boat, when something hit his line. The captain told me he never saw anyone else come down to the chair as fast as Tony did.
Tony had hooked onto a 50 lb Wahoo, known as an Ono in Hawaii. The story in Hawaii about the Ono, is that if you get your fingers in it's mouth, you will be saying "Ono"  for it has small needle like teeth.
Ono in Hawaii also means "good to eat" 
Tony was ecstatic catching that fish. It was one of his great stories to tell.
When he got back after spending a day off the coast of Hawaii, I took one look at him, jealous of the very dark tan he got just spending one day on the ocean, doing what he loved, Fishing!! 
If I had gone out with him, I told him I would look like a lobster!
He was the love of my life, I will miss him forever.
I love you Tony!

Please accept my condolences for the loss of Tony. I have many fond memories playing as children in Chicago. While he will be missed, I will always remember our memories together. Best wishes to his Family.
