Beatrice Jean Robbins, age 82, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was born in Salem, Oregon, on November 19, 1935, to Gerald Holmes Davis and Beatrice Lucille Livingston. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Portland and Salem High School. Married to Robert Edward Robbins for more than 63 years, she preceded her husband in death by only nine days. Bob passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Jean and Bob first lived in Silverton, Oregon, before moving to Washington, where they raised their children, first in Renton and later in Kent. After their children were grown, they moved to Auburn, where they spent their retirement years before moving for a brief time to Portland, Oregon, to live with their younger daughter. For many years they wintered in their fifth wheeler in Parker Dam, California. As the children entered school, Jean went to work at J.C. Penney until retiring in 1994.
Jean’s passion in life was her family. She valued beauty all around her, enjoyed sewing and was an avid quilter, loved gardening and knew the names of countless flowers and plants, and collected rocks and shells wherever she traveled.
She is survived by six children, including Denise Stone of Benton City, WA; Ronald Robbins of Kent, WA; Michael Robbins of Sumner, WA; Kimberly Kenyon of Portland, OR; Robert Robbins of Puyallup, WA; and Christopher Robbins of Enumclaw, WA; fifteen grandchildren, four great-children, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is also survived by four sisters, all in Oregon: Jacqueline Grubb of Corvallis, Geraldine Gettis of Lincoln City, Diann Wright of Salem, and Joann McMackin of Corvallis. One sister, Patricia Davis, and one brother, Gerald Davis, preceded her in death.
A joint funeral service for Jean and Bob will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 20, 2018, at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5105 SW Franklin Ave., Beaverton, Oregon 97005. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the funeral service and reception to follow.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, Washington.
