

Bernice A. Luce was born in Oakland, CA in 1921 to Guy R. and Josephine A. Luce. She lived in San Francisco, CA then moved to Moutain View, CA in 1932 and then back to San Francisco in 1936. She graduated from Balboa High School in 1938 and after Heald’s Business College she worked for the Bank of America until 1942.
She married Lt. George B. Keck, of San Francisco, CA in 1942. George served in the United States Air Corp in WWII and was shot down and died a hero while flying a B-17 type aircraft, out of England, over Germany.
In 1945, she married Captain Robert W. Brown, a United States Air Corps pilot, who flew in the Italian campaign of WWII in B-26 type aircraft. In 1945 they moved to Bryan, TX where he flew as an instructor in an Air Corps instrument flying school. He was discharged from the Air Corps in August of 1945 and they moved to Long Island, NY where he flew for Eastern Air Lines out of La Guardia Field till 1947. They returned to San Francisco in 1947 where he worked for the Real Estate Investment Department of the Prudential Insurance Company. In 1950 they moved to Mill Valley, CA then to Portland, OR in 1954, then to Los Angeles, CA in 1970. They returned to Portland area in 1979 and have lived in Lake Oswego till now.
Bernice is survived by her husband Bob; son, Scott and daughter, Cynthia A. (Roger) Freeman. Two granddaughters, Amanda and Melissa Freeman; two great grandsons, Kaleb Flores and Chase Hawley; one great granddaughter, Kelsey Flores; her sister, Barbara (Howard) Keck ; nephews Tim (Lynette) Keck and David (Louise) Keck; niece, Leann (Lyle) Cornelius; and her 96 year old sister-in-law, Betsy Andresen and her children, Eric (Donna) Andresen and Meg Rose.
Bernice was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and friend. She loved flowers and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bernice’s name to a charity of choice.
