

Claire-Elizabeth Collier was born to Charles W. and Delores H. (Jennings) Collier on August 14, 1942 in Licking, Missouri. She was a member of a large and loving family. As a child, Claire and her family moved to Butte, Montana, where she graduated from Butte High School. Education was highly important to Claire. She attended University of Montana in Missoula and ultimately graduated from Portland State University with Bachelor’s in Psychology. Claire also completed the coursework for a Master’s Degree in psychology at PSU. Claire worked for Standard Insurance Company for many years. She retired in 2007 as a Field Sales and Service Office Manager. She was challenged by and enjoyed her work at The Standard as well as the many special friendships she made there.
Claire is survived by: her spouse Tom Hoffmann; her two children and their spouses Jim and AJ Sloan and Elizabeth Sloan and Walter Cahall; her grandchildren Henry, Nate, Audrey, and Theo; her niece and nephews Cate and Sam Speake, Doug Martinell, Sean and Jon McBride, and Jason Collier; her sisters Charlene Stansbury, Corinne Martinell, and Betty Poucher. Claire was preceded in death by her siblings: Carole Speake; Addison, Bob, Jim, Harry and Chuck Collier. Family was central to Claire’s life and she was an especially devoted grandmother. Claire was a cornerstone of the family. Her love, strength and guidance will be greatly missed. Donations in her honor may be made to Legacy Hopewell House or the American Cancer Society. A service will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 10:30am at Southminster Presbyterian Church at 12250 SW Denney Road in Beaverton, Oregon.
