Dolores was born July 31, 1929 in Yakima, WA, one of two children born to Alfred and Minnie Lee (Park) Kitt. She was educated at St. Helens Hall Episcopal School in Portland. In November, 1955 Dolores married Wayne Donald Melgreen in Carson City, NV. Wayne, having met him when they both worked for General Electric.
They lived in California – both north and south – and Connecticut for a time, before settling in Sherwood, OR. In 1977 they moved to Tucson, AZ for their “retirement,” although after a few months of leisure Dolores went to work as a bookkeeper for Dark Inc. (doing books and payroll for local restaurants), and then she and Wayne started a business building and managing hangars for at Ryan Airfield in Tucson, “Air Ventures Limited.”
Wayne passed away in 1998, and after a few more years in Arizona, Dolores returned to Oregon in 2003. She lived at Summerfield in Tigard, where she was very involved with the Homeowners Association. She also got involved with league bowling at Kellogg Lanes in Milwaukie. The “Sandpipers” bowled every Wednesday for many years, and Dolores made many friends there and enjoyed herself greatly.
Mrs. Melgreen was also preceded in death by her sister Chloe Cole.
She is survived by two daughters, Melody Stobbe and husband Alan of Portland, and Melissa Brown and husband Ron of Tigard.
She is also survived by her most recent housecat, K.C.
At her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
