

Doris was born to Caroline & Castner Campbell in Springdale, Oregon on June 23rd, 1920. She was the second oldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her older sister Belle and her younger siblings, Irving and Louise.
As a girl, she attended Springdale Grade School and Columbia (now known as Corbett) High School, where she graduated with honors at the age of 16. She spoke fondly of the times that she and her siblings spent along the Sandy River.
As a teenager, Doris worked for the Henkle family, helping with the household. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Portland to work for the Jennings family, and later for their family business, Staff Jennings Marina. She lived with the family on their houseboat next to the Sellwood Bridge. She became lifelong best friends with Eileen (Jennings) Colhour. She enjoyed living in NW Portland with Eileen, and later with her dear sister, Louise.
Doris went to work for The Army Corp of Engineers in their payroll department in1947, and worked there until the birth of her first child in 1956.
Doris married Jim Gibbons on November 25th, 1950. They met through her sister, Louise, who worked with Jim. They had three children, Karen, Janell and Mike. Doris and Jim moved to their home in SW Portland with their daughter, Karen in July of 1956. This remained their family home for the rest of their lives. Doris and Jim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before Jim’s death in April 2001.
Doris loved to garden. She enjoyed sharing her flowers and vegetables with friends and family.
Family was everything to Doris. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Justin, Katie, Casey, Matt and Jenna. There was nothing she enjoyed more than family gatherings. She was dearly loved by her family and friends, and will be missed by all.
Doris passed away peacefully at her home on August 25th, 2010.
The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
