Born in Portland during the War, Ed attended Grant High School and college at the University of Idaho, where he played basketball. When he finished college, he travelled Europe for a stint before returning to Portland to begin his career in education. Ed was first and foremost an English teacher-it truly was his passion. For 32 years Ed taught in the Parkrose School District. Many former students described him as one of the hardest teachers they ever remembered having, but also one of the best. His REDO stamp will live in infamy. He coached the Parkrose High School’s Girls Basketball team later in his career as well. When Ed wasn’t teaching or coaching, he pursued his other interests: gardening, cooking, history and Maui. Ed is survived by his loving wife Toni of 35 years, his children Eden, Stuart, Amanda and Curtis and eight grandchildren. A private Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2012.
