George was born in Croton Falls, N.Y. He graduated from West Linn High School in 1949 and went on to graduate from Lewis and Clark College in 1957. He served in the United States Navy during he Korean War. George was married to Yvonne Pearson in 1957. George worked as an Economist for the state highway division of ODOT until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of West Hills Baptist Church in Portland since 1962. George is survived by his wife of 54 years, Yvonne; daughter, Andrea Elogbi; son, Craig Burgess and six grandchildren, Tary Burgess, Safia, Hana and Isaam Elogbi, Grace and Isabella Burgess. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Burgess. A celebration of George's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. at West Hills Baptist Church in Portland. In lieu of flowers, remembrances should go in his honor to West Hills Baptist Church-Missionary fund or West Hills Christian School.
