

Gordon was born on January 19, 1927 in Portland, Oregon to Andrew (Jack) and Gertrude (Gertie) Pastor. The family lived in Northwest Portland until Gordon was six years old. They moved to Tigard where Gordon spent the rest of his formative years. He enjoyed spending time on his grandparent’s farm in Tualatin. He spent every summer there when he was growing up. Gordon went to St. Anthony’s School and Tigard High School. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen. He was sent to Japan and the Philippines during World War II. Gordon was stationed on the USS Bataan aircraft carrier. After the war ended, Gordon returned to Oregon. He married Lois Morris in 1947. They moved to Sacramento so that Gordon could attend watchmaker’s school. Their son Bill was born there. The young family moved back to Portland and Gordon went to work at Linnton Plywood. The family expanded to include Nancy during this time. They lived in Medford, Eugene and back to Portland between 1957 and 1967. In 1971 Gordon and Lois started a concrete pumping company called Western Concrete Pumping. Gordon retired from the company in 1986. After Lois retired they bought a motorhome and they spent time driving throughout the western U.S. They spent winters in Palm Springs. Lois passed away in 1998. Gordon continued travelling and spending winters in Southern California with his special companion, Ilse Von Hagen. Gordon enjoyed power boat racing, waterskiing, camping, and gardening. He was a member of the American Power Boat Racing Association. Gordon passed away on February 16, 2014. Gordon is survived by his children, William Pastor and Nancy Pastor-Johnson (Terry), grandchildren, Elyse Pastor and Marley Black (John), special companion Ilse Von Hagen, sister-in-law, Shirley Baldwin (Ray), sister-in-law Joan Pastor, sister-in-law, Pat Morris and brother-in-law, Bert Madland and favorite daughter-in-law, Sue Pastor. Gordon’s funeral service will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in Tigard, Oregon on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard. Remembrances may be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
