JJ was born in West Allis Wisconsin to Karen and Jack Walsdorf. They moved to Oregon in 1975.
JJ attended the Catlin Gabel School and was a ”lifer” attending from kindergarten through 12th grade.
He then attended Pacific University and graduated from the University of Oregon.
JJ worked for a time at Blackwell’s, booksellers in Oxford, England. He also worked as a legislative assistant in Salem, OR and spent most of his career with Sykes Financial Services in Lake Oswego, OR.
JJ was a member of Friends of Mystery, arranging programs and speakers; a volunteer with the Tigard CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and a volunteer with the Tigerettes, his daughter’s dance team.
His greatest passion was for his daughters whom he loved so dearly and was dearly loved in return. He liked reading and book collecting, being an extra on Grimm, baseball, an avid Oregon Ducks and Green Packers fan and thoroughly enjoyed collecting friends.
JJ enjoyed Oregon’s beauty from the beaches to the mountains and the eastern deserts. He also had fun traveling to other states and countries. Some of his favorite foods included cheese curds, any kind of pie, pizza and nachos.
JJ is survived by his daughters, Emily Eve and Alison Grace Walsdorf of Tigard, his mother and stepfather, Karen and Gordon Sykes of Lake Oswego, his father, Jack Walsdorf, of Rock Creek and his stepmother, Bonnie Allen, of Murfreesboro, TN., his half-sister, Quinn Walsdorf, of Albuquerque, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
JJ, we miss you so much and love you forever. You are at peace now and Grandma is loving on you in heaven!
