Marcia Ruth Evans

Marcia was born on January 8, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert and Valerie Rodgers. After a year they moved to Long Beach and then to Huntington Beach in California. In addition to school, Marcia sang in the Marina High School choir. After high school she worked as a waitress and then met her future husband Larry. Larry and Marcia met on a double date in Long Beach while he served in the Navy. After Larry left the Navy, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. They were married in Twin Falls in June of 1975. The family lived there for a few years before moving back to Huntington Beach, California. There they raised a family; first, daughter Christy and then son Jason. The family moved to Beaverton, Oregon in 1990. After Christy and Jason were grown, Marcia got her real estate license in order to help family and friends purchase houses. She turned it from a hobby into a career. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Marcia enjoyed sewing, making arts and crafts and cooking. Marcia always made her house a loving home. She devoted her life to her husband, being a mother to her children and being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved to decorate for the holidays and make memories. The family enjoyed many wonderful cooked meals sitting around the table and sharing stories all together for family meals. Marcia passed away on November 8, 2012 in Portland, Oregon. She is survived by husband Larry, sister, Cheri Higley, daughter Christy (David) Grimes, son Jason (Carrie) Evans, and grandchildren Derek, Alyssa and Noah. Marcia’s daughter Christy is expecting a fourth grandchild named Luke. There will be a public Celebration of Life at Young’s Funeral Home in Tigard, Oregon on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10am. A private committal service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery where Marcia will be inurned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Oregon and Southwest Washington Chapter of the American Diabetes Association at 4380 S.W. Macadam Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97239.
