Martha was the second of four girls born to Harold J Fosket and Claire Mae Weeks. She was born on September 25, 1951. As a student at Lewiston High School, Martha was a member of the Civil Air Patrol program and enjoyed flying. Martha was known as Marty to her friends and family. Martha met Don while attending college in Lewiston and they were married on June 12, 1971, shortly after Don’s graduation. They moved to Portland in 1973, shortly after the birth of their first son, Gregory Michael, in November 1972. They were blessed with two additional sons, Geoffrey Rian in April 1976, and Donald Jerome (Jerry) in December 1977.
Martha worked at many jobs during her life. These jobs included being a dance instructor at Arthur Murray, retail sales at both JC Penney and See’s Candy, and in electronics for around 25 years at Fujitsu, Tektronix, and Xerox. She retired in 2012 but kept in touch with her former coworkers at Xerox by attending regular luncheons with them.
Martha enjoyed reading, traveling (especially short trips to the coast), and yelling at the TV whenever the Mariners or the Blazers made “dumbhead plays”. She was especially fond of the trips to San Diego, Vancouver BC, and the Caribbean cruise she shared with Don, Jerry, and Jerry’s wife Cheryl.
Martha is survived by her husband Don (Tualatin); sons Greg (Central Point), Geoff (Sherwood), and Jerry (Tigard); two sisters: Becky Heintz (Beaverton) and Sandy Baker (Molalla); and 9 grandchildren: Colby and Libby (Central Point), Rian, Arin and Aerich (Sherwood), and Matthew, Benjamin, Samuel, and Emily (Tigard). Martha was preceded in death by both her parents and her older sister Cheryl.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice that works to better the lives of all of God’s children.
