

Raymond Draskovich, 78, of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on November 25, 2025. Born on December 19, 1946, in Illinois, Raymond dedicated more than 26 years of his life in service to his country with honor in the United States Navy.
Raymond began his military journey at age 17 when he joined the Navy Reserve in Savannah, Georgia. He transferred to active duty in 1971, serving as a Navy Corpsman and rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His distinguished career included service aboard the USS Midway during the Vietnam era, the USS Blue Ridge, and the USS St. Louis. His assignments took him around the world, including duty stations in Western Australia, Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Alameda, California and with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion of the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton. He retired with honors in 1993.
In addition to his military service, Raymond was a lifelong learner and accomplished scholar. He earned two master’s degrees—an MBA from Marylhurst University, and a Master’s in Public Relations from Hawaii Pacific University.
Raymond was a member of the Tigard American Legion. He was an avid reader of mysteries and historical novels, a world traveler, and a passionate collector of fine porcelain and Japanese tea sets. He also enjoyed scuba diving and bicycling throughout the Pacific Northwest—pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit and love for exploration.
Raymond is survived by his family: his sister, Jeannette Cannady; his three nieces, Sharon Nelson-Phillips, Rebecca Cannady, and Maria Cannady; four grandnieces; five grandnephews; two great-grand nieces and one great-grandnephew, all of whom loved him deeply.
A viewing will be held at Young's Funeral Home Friday, January 9th, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by a service honoring Raymond’s life will be held later the same day at 2:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society or the Marine Corps Memorial Foundation.
