Robert Glenn Robinson, of King City, Oregon passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of July sixth.
He was born in Beatrice, Nebraska to Glenn and Ruth Robinson on January 20th, 1920. The family moved to Medford, Oregon while Robert was an infant and his father established a well known automotive repair and welding business. He graduated from Medford High School in 1938 and then moved to Portland where he attended business school. Subsequently, he worked at the Oregon Shipyards and also for the Railroad.
During the early 1950’s he was the General Manager of an automobile dealership in Hillsboro. Later, he went to work for Brady-Hamilton Stevedore Company of Portland. In 1983 he retired from that organization as Executive Vice President.
In 1948, Robert married a widow, June, and took on two step children, Patti and Michael. The children were six and five years old at the time. He raised these children as his own. In 1950 he welcomed his own daughter, Kathleen into the world and was now father to three.
In 1991 he lost June to cancer. In 1992 he married Martha Silknitter, a long time friend. Martha passed away in 1996. In November of 2005 he married Rose Walker of Florence, Oregon. Rose passed away three years later in 2008.
Until the last few years, Robert was an active golfer. He will be badly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Pixley of Beaverton and step-son Michael Layman of Tigard. His step-daughter, Patti, passed away in 1992. Robert was grandfather to seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren as well as three great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Robert will be held on July 31st at the Crown Room in King City, Oregon. Friends and relatives are encouraged to attend from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
