Sondra Carroll was born in Marysville, Tennessee. Her parents were Albert Tate McAllister and Alice Ann (Law) McAllister. As an infant, Sondra traveled in the backseat of a car, through Death Valley, on her way to Lynnwood, California where her parents relocated. Sondra attended public school in Lynnwood and graduated from high school. While in high school, she was awarded the title: “Miss Lynwood”, a crown her family is still proud of to this day.
At the age of 46, Carroll visited Oregon in 1987, and fell head over heels in love with the state. She moved to the Portland area shortly after that vacation. She worked for 12 years as a meat department buyer for West Coast Distributers. She also worked for Multnomah County for several years. After she retired Ms. Carroll was a faithful volunteer at the city library in Tigard, Oregon. She was also an avid lover of animals, especially cats and dogs. A prolific gardener, her green thumb carried quite a reputation among her many wonderful friends. Sondra always welcomed her friends and family when they could join her in the flower garden.
Sondra Carroll had one brother, Albert McAlister Jr., known as “Buddy”. Buddy proceeded her in death some years ago. Sondra is survived by her daughter: Julie Weischedel, of Riverside, California; three beloved grandchildren: Kara, Krista and Wes; and two very special great grandchildren: Mackenzie and Madeline. Sondra also leaves behind scores of wonderful friends who will miss her very much. Sondra Carroll’s friends and family are so thankful and grateful for the wonderful years they enjoyed with this one they all loved so very much.
The family will hold a private memorial service. In honour of Sandra’s wishes, her remains will be scattered in her beautiful garden she loved so much.
