

Vera Faye Miller
February 5, 1933 - September 4, 2012
Vera Miller passed away September 4, 2012 in her Beaverton home, surrounded by her loving husband Ron and 3 of her daughters, after an 18 month fight with cancer.
She was born Vera Faye VanNess in Cordell, Oklahoma February 5, 1933. She was the first of 3 children born to George and Fay VanNess. Vera grew up in Monrovia, CA and graduated from Monrovia-Arcadia-Duarte High School in 1951.
She married Joseph Nerski in 1951, and lived in Garden Grove, CA. They had 3 children: Jay, John, and Jody Nerski (McGinley). Mr. Nerski died in an automobile accident in 1960.
Vera was a hair stylist, and moved to Chowchilla, CA. Vera married Lance Close, and they had Tina Close (Ahl) in June, 1964. Mr. Close was killed in an automobile accident in July, 1964
.
Vera was introduced to Ron Miller by her friend Mary Prince, who is Ron’s sister. Ron and Vera were married in December 1976, and Vera moved to Oregon. Vera was the step-mother to Ron’s children Susan Loftus, Jonni Thomas, Cheryl Sheppard, and Allen Miller
.
Vera had 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, her brother and sister, and a grandson Tim McGinley.
Vera’s life was full of family commitment. She hosted countless family gatherings for barbecues, parties, birthdays, and holiday meals. She enjoyed traveling with Ron, and soaking up local history wherever she went. She attended many grandchildren’s events and was fortunate and thankful she lived near them.
Today she is free from cancer, on to the next world - where she is out of pain, reunited with those who went before her, awaiting other family members to join her again.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Young’s Funeral Home.
A life celebration will be Friday September 14 at 11 am in Young's Funeral Home Chapel
