Walter, known to most as Walt or Jake; known to a few as Lawrence; known to several as Lars; known to more as son, brother, cousin, uncle, dad, or grandpa; known to others as Scoutmaster; known to many as Lieutenant; and known, of course, to Judy as husband of 52 years. Known to all as a good man; a deeply caring individual; a lover of dogs, and of music; and as a curious and creative human being.
Born and raised in San Pedro, CA, he moved north to Portland, OR in 1972 with his wife Judy. He retired from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office with the rank of Lieutenant in 1997.
The world was honored with his presence for 87 years, 8 months, and 11 days. He touched so many lives with the time he had. Between his family, his work in the Sheriff's Office, his volunteer work in the community, his military service, and the many musical acts he performed with, he shared so much with the world. He will be remembered as being kind and gentle, with an infectious laugh and smile; as being thoughtful and intelligent; as being a strong mentor and leader; and as being exceedingly humble.
He brought four children into the world, and had three granddaughters and two great grandsons. His memory is lovingly held by his family and by his community.
