Alexander Troup Daignault Jr. of Baltimore, MD passed away on April 20, 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by friends and family. Born to Alexander Troup Daignault and Elizabeth Barrett Daignault in Boston, MA, ‘Sandy’ as he was known throughout his life, graduated from the Brooks School (North Andover, MA) and Middlebury College (Middlebury, VT). Sandy moved with his family in 1973 to Baltimore where he has lived ever since. He is survived by his sister Anne Daignault, and his two daughters, Emily Daignault-Salvaggio and Cindy Daignault. He also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, River and August.
Sandy is a decorated Army veteran who served during the war in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic valor during combat. After returning home, he began work in finance, working most of his career in the corporate syndicate department of Alex. Brown & Sons in Baltimore, MD. He and his wife, Sarah Daignault, raised their two children in Baltimore, where he was an active member locally at the Maryland Club and Gibson Island Club. In his 50s, Sandy fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a professional pilot, founding and operating his own charter airline and jet management company, flying planes for the duration of his working life. He enjoyed a wide variety of sports including ice hockey, rowing, and golf, and was a devoted supporter of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. Sandy had a life-long love of the water, born from childhood summers sailing on Quissett Harbor on Cape Cod. He continued that passion for boating on the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay, where he piloted his Grand Banks "Three Cheers" for many happy years with friends and family. Late in life, Sandy found deep and lasting love with his dearest friend, Michael Milligan, who shared Sandy’s passions for the arts, for dining, and for connecting with people. In his final decades, Sandy was perhaps most moved by his work in service. A devoted and active volunteer throughout his life, Sandy was especially proud of his work supporting many charitable organizations through the Daignault Family Foundation, though perhaps most dear to his heart was his work with the Moore Center and his dedication to ending childhood abuse. Sandy was known to all as a warm and devoted son, brother, father, husband, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by so many.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD May 9th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Sandy’s memory to the Quissett Harbor Preservation Trust or the Moore Center at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
