Born and raised in Newark, NJ, as one of nine siblings, Anna learned early how to be tough and resourceful. This was important because after marrying Herb and having two daughters, she moved and set up the home in six States. Loving the adventures of new places, she learned to trap shoot, water ski, and trek the New Mexico terrain. Anna enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean where she snorkeled, parasailed and went deep sea fishing. Her prized fish hung over the sofa. Boating with Herb was her favorite – she said that is what kept her young. They would boat from March to November. She loved the Chesapeake Bay especially going to Annapolis, Inner Harbor, Rock Hall and St. Michaels. But her specialty was cooking! Anna was such a great Italian cook. Each family celebration had to include eggplant parmesan, manicotti, zucchini & meatballs, pineapple upside-down cake or ‘stolen apple’ pie. She even fed the outside critters – raccoons, birds, hawk and cats. But she chased away the squirrels and deer. Her family was everything to her and would love when they visited, especially if they drew pictures that she hung up with pride. But if you visited she wanted to make sure you ate something. This year when she moved into assisted living, she blossomed in her new location. Anna made wonderful friends, was excited about the crafts she made, looked forward to the activities planned and loved the music. But even there she was trying to feed the family when they visited.
You are probably wondering why her picture is from her younger days, that’s because she always thought of herself as young. She was still that crazy, funny girl who loved to dance or take the train to NYC to see Frank Sinatra sing. Anna will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Anna is survived by her two daughters: Anna Marie Scharbeck, Diane Stafford and her son-in-law Edward “Brick” Stafford; four grandchildren: Gina Turner (Ron), Donna Buppert (Stuart), Debra Boblooch (Zach) and Thomas “Buck” Stafford (Julie), and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
