On March 26, 2019 BETTY J. SHAFFER (nee Murphy), born in Irwinton, GA; beloved wife of 58 years to Richard E. “Dick” Shaffer; loving mother of Linda Bottalico and Keith Shaffer and his wife Kim; cherished grandmother of JR and Brandi Bottalico, Richie, Shannon and Ryan Shaffer; adoring great-grandmother of Zachary Lee Shaffer and Autumn Ann Knox; dear sister of Sonny Murphy, Robert West, Roy West and the late "Jerrie" Deason. Also survived by her Yorkshire Terrier, Murphy.
Betty and Dick met in Georgia while Dick was serving in the Air Force. They married in 1960 and moved frequently until settling in Maryland in the late 1960's.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Maryland Masonic Home, 300 International Circle, Cockeysville, MD 21030 on Thursday, April 4, 10:30am-11:30am with a Celebration of Betty’s life beginning at 11:30am.
Interment Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy., Cheltenham, Maryland 20623 at 2:30pm.
