Following a battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Dennis J. DiGalbo, age 70, died on February 2, 2020. Dennis was born to Dominic and Olga Hazuda DiGalbo in Rochelle Park, New Jersey and graduated from Garfield High School. Dennis went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Rutgers University in 1971.
He married Priscilla Adele Gallup in 1985 and together they had one son, Gregory Franklin. They expected to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in May. Dennis was a devoted husband and father who placed the well-being of his family above all else.
An avid fisherman, one of his greatest pleasures was sharing his life-long love of fishing and the outdoors with his son, Greg.
Dennis had a long and successful career in book printing and book manufacturing, displaying an aptitude for resolving production problems and meeting tight delivery schedules. He was well-respected in the industry, serving as Customer Service Manager for The Book Press in Brattleboro, Vermont; Port City Press in Baltimore, Maryland; and Victor Graphics (div. Bang Printing) in Baltimore, Maryland. He retired in December 2018.
In the early 1990s, Dennis earned his Ham Radio Extra Class License, the highest grade achievable in Amateur Radio. He was known in the Jacksonville area for the dipole antennas strung throughout his backyard. A Ham Radio operator since the age of fourteen, Dennis was a purist, preferring to make contacts in Morse code rather than spoken word. He was an active radio operator until very recently.
In addition to his wife and son, Dennis is survived by his brother, Donald DiGalbo and Sister-in-Law, Kathy DiGalbo; a niece, Dianne DiGalbo Richter; and a nephew, Daniel DiGalbo, all residents of California. He was predeceased by his parents.
The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Saturday, February 8, 12noon to 1pm with a Celebration of Dennis’ life beginning at 1pm.
