

Ginger DeLong Kelley died peacefully on February 17th surrounded by her family at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, Maryland. She was 87. Mrs. Kelley was a long term resident of Cape Cod, moving to Baltimore in 2009 to be near her daughter. Mrs. Kelley was the wife of the late marathon legend John Kelley.
During her 30 years on Cape Cod, Mrs. Kelley lived in Orleans, Yarmouthport and Dennis. She worked in residential real estate and later ran a small bed and breakfast in Yarmouthport. She and Mr. Kelley loved participating in many Cape Cod road races and civic events, raising money for local charities, while inspiring runners young and old.
Mrs. Kelley grew up in Scarsdale, New York and graduated from Connecticut College before moving to Boston. She taught elementary school and worked as a grader at Harvard Business School before settling in Hingham in 1951. There she raised two children with her first husband William DeLong and became a well-known residential real estate broker on Boston’s south shore. She worked for Hunneman & Company for almost 20 years.
After living for two years in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mrs. Kelley settled in Orleans in 1979. She was active for many years in the Unity Church on Cape Cod and was always committed to living one day at a time. She loved gardening, boating, lobster rolls and walking the Cape’s beaches. She treasured her many friends on the Cape.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by her children David DeLong of Concord, Massachusetts, Betsy Goodman of Baltimore, Maryland, five grandchildren Amber Hamilton, Jessica Middlemiss, Joshua Goodman, Sara DeLong and Anna DeLong, as well as three great grandchildren Jack Hamilton, Luke Hamilton and Cahill Middlemiss.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Stella Maris, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093, on Monday, February 20 from 10:30 to 11AM at which time a memorial service will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment Private..
Memorial donations can be made to YoungLives Baltimore, serving teenage mothers in the Baltimore area. Mrs. Kelley worked in earlier years with the Junior League and Florence Crittenton to support the needs of unwed mothers.
