Joan Weyers, known affectionately to her family as "AJ," passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on October 8th, 1938, she was the daughter of Leo and Mamie Weyers in Phillips, Wisconsin.
AJ graduated from Phillips High School, but was a lifelong resident of Maryland until her passing. An active and athletic young woman, she excelled in athletics throughout her school years. Her passion for education led her to a teaching career at Western Maryland/McDaniel College, where she undoubtedly inspired many students.
Even beyond academics, AJ remained active throughout her life. An avid golfer, she possessed a competitive spirit that was evident on the course. Her skills were recognized as she once held a state of Maryland tennis seeding, a testament to her dedication to the sport.
AJ is survived by her older sister, Pauline, residing in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and her younger brother, Daniel, who lives in Howard City, Michigan and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is further survived by her dear companion Bill Pollard who loved and provided care to Joanie her later years. The family is eternally grateful to Bill for his love and support of AJ. Also, AJ and Bill were competitive athletes participating in the Senior Olympics for a number of years. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A celebration of life gathering for Joan will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc., 10 West Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093, where a memory sharing time will begin at 5:00 PM.
