March 3, 1941 – March 15, 2026
Lawrence “Larry” Howard Kirssin of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born in Baltimore on March 3, 1941, Larry was the son of the late Ray Kirssin and Violet Kirssin. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Bob Kirssin.
Larry is survived by his beloved son, Howard Kirssin, daughter-in-law Tess Kirssin, and his cherished grandson, Liam Kirssin.
Larry was part of a pioneering generation in the technology world. He worked as one of the early computer programmers and systems analysts during the formative years of computing, continuing his career in the field until his retirement. His work reflected a sharp analytical mind and a natural curiosity about how things worked.
Outside of his professional life, Larry was known for his remarkable ability to build and create. Extremely handy and self-taught, he designed and constructed home additions entirely from plans he envisioned in his own head. His mechanical skills were evident even in his teenage years, when he restored and rebuilt street race cars.
Larry felt most at home on the water. An avid fisherman and lifelong boating enthusiast, he spent countless hours on the Chesapeake Bay, rarely going without a boat of some kind throughout his life. Those who knew him best understood that the water was where he found his greatest peace.
He also enjoyed shooting skeet and trap at the local club at Loch Raven and was an enthusiastic model airplane builder and pilot, flying with fellow hobbyists at a club in Parkton.
Larry will be remembered as a builder, a problem-solver, and a man who loved working with his hands. Whether it was computers, engines, homes, or model airplanes, he approached every project with creativity, patience, and pride.
Most of all, he will be remembered by his family as a devoted father and grandfather whose ingenuity, independence, and quiet determination left a lasting mark on those who loved him.
A private celebration of life to be held at a later date.
