On March 2nd, 2025, the world lost a beautiful soul, Marsha Catherine Bartholomew. Marsha was a kind and genuine spirit with a caring heart and a loving soul. She was born on September 30th, 1948, to parents Edward and Agatha (née Mikulski) Blazucki in Baltimore, Maryland.
Marsha began her education at Villa Julie, studying business, but it was nursing that ultimately called to her. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg with her RN degree. Marsha dedicated her career to healthcare, working as an emergency room nurse, an operating room nurse, and eventually serving as an Nurse Manager at John Hopkins Bayview.
Growing up on the "shore", Marsha cherished time spent with her cousins and even worked at the Mikulski Bakery. These early years were filled with laughter, love, and the bonds that would last a lifetime.
Marsha met the love of her life, Ken Bartholomew, in June of 1996. The two spent almost 29 years together. Marsha always knew that motherhood would be her greatest joy. Marsha and Ken adopted their beautiful daughters, Mary Irina on June 9, 1998, and Victoria on December 8, 2000. She loved being a mother not only to her own children but also to others. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved, valued, and cared for. Her tenderness, kindness, humor, and radiant smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Marsha's love for her children was immeasurable, and they were her greatest pride.
Marsha had a deep love for the water, eagerly anticipating the family's yearly trips to Chincoteague and Assateague Island. She also had a special fondness for flamingos—whether it was a flamingo shirt, bag, or any other gift featuring the bird, Marsha’s face would light up with pure joy. Her enthusiasm for flamingos became a cherished memory, one that will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Chincoteague and Assateague held a special place in Marsha's heart. It was the destination for many family vacations, creating countless memories for her and her daughters. From biking and mini golf to exploring the local shops, the family had endless adventures. For years, they stayed in the same beach house, with occasional changes to mix things up. Marsha loved taking the boat out to explore the island, and the family would enjoy quiet naps on the way back. After a fun day, a visit to Mr. Whippy’s was a must—always a treat on a hot day or after a wonderful dinner. One of the most unforgettable experiences was the year the family took a boat to watch the ponies swim the channel—a memory that will remain in their hearts forever.
Marsha is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Bartholomew, as well as her daughters, Mary Irina Bartholomew, Victoria Bartholomew, and sister-in-law Ellen Blazucki, along with her loving cousins from the Mikulski and Blazucki families. Marsha is predeceased by her brother Daniel Blazucki.
Marsha’s life was a testament to love, joy, and the importance of family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
