Known for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor, he had a way of making everyone around him smile. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke or a playful comment.
Rich’s first job was at Towson Ford working in the parts department which led to a career in the auto parts industry. In the 1970s, he took a leap of faith and opened his own auto parts business in Cockeysville, Maryland which became a well-known and trusted local establishment.
His Dad loved spending time on the water and even built a boat enjoyed by the family fishing in Middle River or the Chesapeake Bay. Rich carried that love with him into adulthood and as a young parent, spent many weekends fishing and enjoying time on the boat with all the kids in tow.
He gave back to his community as a proud and active member of the Optimist Club of Cockeysville, where he served in several officer roles over the years.
A self-proclaimed handyman, he approached every project with enthusiasm—even if it occasionally resulted in a few leftover parts. His efforts were always met with laughter and appreciation, a reflection of his endearing spirit.
And then there was his love for the game of golf. He had a circle of friends who spent many weekends out on the links, much to his wife’s chagrin. When he could no longer get on the course he kept up with the sport watching the PGA tournaments on the golf channel.
He had a deep love for games and fun, from bingo and scratch-offs to the beloved family card game of “Telefunky.” He also embraced technology in his own unique way, creating countless email accounts much to the amusement and sometimes frustration of his family, the designated IT department.
Rich spent his final years at Hart Heritage Assisted Living where he honed his bingo skills and became a staff favorite with his kind and witty demeanor.
He shared a beautiful marriage of over 66 years with his beloved wife, Patricia. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, including their shared love of square dancing—a testament to their enduring partnership and joy in life.
Above all, he was immensely proud of his family. They were his greatest accomplishment and his deepest source of happiness. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on through them.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
