We are deeply saddened by the news of Randy's passing. Peggy told us all the family was with him at the end. I understand how difficult that can be, but I know you all wouldn't have had it any other way then to be with Randy at the end as he moves on to his next journey. I'm sorry too my family never got the chance to thank Randy for the help he provided to Peggy. You do not know how much of a relief it provided to her and us as well. Between Randy and the rest of the Muth family, I'm not certain how we would have gotten through it all. We cannot thank you all enough. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dear Nancy and Family,
I was privileged to know Randy Burns. Our sympathy goes out to you and your family.
I met Randy at a gym in Annapolis in the mid 1990's. We discussed politics and we were polar opposites. I don't think the gym did very much for both of us but a friendship developed out of it.
I didn't know much about Randy until I invited him to play in our local low stakes poker game. He immediately fit right in, everyone liked Randy. He would tell jokes in a quiet, slow manor always finishing with a great ending. Randy was a methodical poker player and his energy and presence continued for many years. We would always joke about how he kept his winnings in a shoe box at home. 
I learned a lot about Randy during those games. About his success and failures, his airplanes, boats and his adventurous excursions. I was so impressed of his vacation at Lake Tahoe on a houseboat with his family and was nervous for his trip around the tip of South America on a small sailboat. He must have really loved the water.
Randy was a "mensch" - A person having admirable characteristics, such as fortitude and firmness of purpose. He always helped when asked, His kindness and generosity with the children in Haiti made him a real hero.
He cared about his employees and when opportunity to sell his business developed he negotiated their continued positions with the new owner. Randy was special in that way. He left a mark on everyone he knew.
Randy loved you Nancy, his children, grandchildren and he will be missed but not forgotten. I'm sorry I missed his funeral. I will cherish Randy Burns adventures, stories, friendship and jokes forever.

Mr. Burns was one of the most giving caring people I've ever met. He was always concerned about his employees, not just about work but he wanted to know how you were doing in your personal life. When my wife was sick with cancer, he pulled us in his office and offered to do what ever he could for us. I started working for Prime it was a pivital time in my life & it was a blessing for me & my family. I'm forever thankful for Mr. Burns and Prime Medical.

Remembering Randy,
As we go through life, we meet a lot of people - and a few of them are extraordinary. Randy Burns was extraordinary. While he was many things to many people, he was special to everyone who knew him. His unique brand of humor, delivered in his slow, halting style, left you hanging on to every word. His business acumen was impressive; whatever he got involved in, he made successful. Perhaps his biggest success, though, was his ability to reach out to those in need. Randy was first and foremost a rescuer. His generosity and kindness will be remembered by those who lives he touched.
Randy was a risk taker, both in business and in life. He was always seeking new opportunities and new challenges. He thought nothing of traveling to out-of-the-way places, made even more appealing to him if there was an element of danger. He bought a boat with the intention of sailing around the world and when he learned to fly, he bought not just one, but two airplanes. He then spent much of his time in trying to convince Nancy it was safe for him to be her pilot. He was not entirely successful in this endeavor. 
Randy was both a thinker and a doer. He loved a good debate. He delighted in saying outrageous things just to see how people would respond. Randy knew how to work a crowd, and work it he would. He liked to be in control of things because he cared so deeply about how they turned out. If he was convinced he was right, no one and nothing could keep him from his chosen path. 
Throughout their years together, Nancy and Randy complimented and strengthened one another. Randy often took Nancy away from her comfort zone, involving her in new adventures and new directions. Nancy helped to ground Randy and nurtured and nudged (he would say nagged) him to a better, healthier lifestyle. True and loving partners, they stood firm and supported each other through both good times and bad. Randy believed in family and he deeply loved his children. Nancy's children, and all of their grandchildren.
Randy was acutely aware that he was closing in on the last chapter of his life. He crammed everything he could into each and every day. Although there were things left undone on his bucket list, what he did accomplish is more than most of us could ever contemplate.
So, Randy, there wasn't enough time for you, or for us, but the times we had were unforgettable. Rest in peace, Dear Friend. Lynne & Jeff Grip

John & I are so sorry we could not attend the service for Randy. Family matters required our presence in Pittsburgh and we could not get back in time.
I am so grateful for the privilege of knowing him, working with him and most of all being able to call him my friend.
He was an amazing man with such character and concern for others. He will be missed but he has left us with so many memories that we will smile when brought to mind.

I was so sad to hear that Randy was sick. I worked at Prime - Med from 2005-2007. Randy and Bruce hired me soon after I had my first daughter. I worked with Bruce at Neighborcare and wanted something closer to home & part-time so I could focus on being a mom.
It was because of Randy, that I had the opportunity to balance both work & taking care of my daughter. He was so accomodatng and gererous to me. He was always kind & optimistic. When I think of him, I always see his smile. What a wonderful man he was. 
My husband also knew him as a customer at Lexus. He says Randy was always so kind & patient & always made his day better when he came in.
I know he will be greatly missed by so many, but he will also live on in the many hearts & minds of those he touched.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Burns' passing. Although having met him only once to discuss Spencer I knew he was a man of substance and great character. What an amazing life he had - enjoyed seeing the pictures posted online - it appears his life was an adventure and how fortunate you were to share it with him. 
I am thankful that Randy was part of Spencer's life and hope that Spencer will understand what a gift such a friendship is.

I'm sorry to hear about Randy's passing. I know it's hard to watch someone you love suffer. I'm glad he is at peace. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the both of you and all of his travels. As for many people; some more than others, trying to find one memory of Mr. Burns and narrowing it down is hard. But I can remember the only year I worked @ Prime Medical, it was Christmas time and Mr. Burns dressed up as Santa Clauss. He was as jolly as proclaimed in our young stories of Santa, and his hair was as white as snow. His cheeks so jolly and red; and finally he gave out a ho! ho! ho! He gave out gifts to everyone, including myself and I had only worked there for 1 week prior to the occassion. Mr. Burns has always been a stern man and role model for my son Shaun and his life on this earth will never be forgotten. Michelle S.

Mr. Burns.....I have never in my life met a man that will forever leave an everlasting impression on my heart. He spoke so softly and always from the heart. He always wanted to help no matter what it was or who it was, that's jus the kind of person he was. I missed seeing his face and hearing his voice.
I remember when he and I spoke about my giving my kidney to my best friend who had kidney failure. We talked for hours in his office. He called while we were in the hospital just to see how we were both doing, that meant more to me than he would ever know.

The second trip, around 2005 (Labor Day weekend) was memorable because I "swam with the dolphins", along with Randy, Bruce and several other employees. I had the honor of being invited, and attending, Miss. Nancy and Randy's wedding in the Virgin Island! I will always remember that trip. I was treated as one of their daughters and instantly grew a fondness and felt a connection with Randy. To this day - when I am stressed and need to go to "a happy place" in my mind, I go to Randy's boat. I picture myself sitting on the back of the boat, on the wood platform, starring at the beautiful tropical waters. Randy was a special and great person and will be missed by many! My favorite memory of Randy would have to be our trip to the Bahamas. Since Bob did not join us on our fishing trip, Randy decided we should bring our favorite catch back to him.......a shark. Randy paid everyone from taxi drivers to bellhops to cart the shark up to Bob's bed where he was under the sheets with a cigarette in its mouth. Randy went onto provide us with years of laughs. He was a very special man and touched many lives.

STORIES OF RANDY


1.  As a teenager, Randy had a paper route.  He had saved his money and bought a  motorbike from an 

acquaintance without talking it checked out by our dad.  Our parents were furious telling him it would probably

fall apart within a week if he wasn't killed on it first. It looked like a piece of junk but it was HIS.  He proudly 

rode off into the wind thrilled with his purchase.   A short time later the phone rang.and my mother answered.
It was Randy calling and he needed to talk to dad..  He was ok, but the motorbike had lost some parts during
his ride and wouldn't run. Could Dad please come get him.  Dad grumbled about it, but went to get him.  He had
to leave his work, rent a truck and haul Randy and the motorbike home.  Then return the rented truck, pick up his
car, and go back to work. "My mother proclaimed it  an " eyesore" and couldn't stay at my house". I don't recall other 

details, but the motorbike disappeared a short time later


2.  Then there was a time he bought a second hand convertible.  Having limited funds, dad cautioned him about the
expense involved with a car.  "Oh, I know about  that...gas, oil, maintenance, etc.   I will do the maintenance and
always be sure my gas is not lower than a half tank  before I drive!  .........About 2 weeks later he calls dad and has 

run out of gas enroute to a school function. Can he bring him some gas.  Dad asked the big question about the half 

tank of gas.  What happened to it?  Well I was in a hurry and just forgot to check it.  Dad laughed and told him he would be there as soon as he could locate  the gas can.


3  His story began,  "Did I tell you about my fried chicken deal in the back of the big black limo on the way to the airport?"
A story that Randy found very amusing involved a business meeting years later.  It seemed that a client needed to 

see him but both had limited time..  The man finally decided he would meet Randy for lunch.and they could talk 

at that time.  The only time available was on the way to the airport.  This big black limo pulls up to the drive in window 

of a fried chicken place and lunch was ordered. There they sit in the back of this big limo eating fried chicken as the driver
heads for the airport.  When he told me about it he could hardly tell the story for laughing at the circumstances of this
business transaction!  "Imagine being driven down the highway in a big black limo eating fried chicken with a client!"

What can we say? Although Randy encouraged people to be happy at his funeral, this is still a time of great sorrow and sadness. Randy had so many friends and relatives who are surely in shock, struggling to get used to a world without him. We will always remember the happy times, especially going to Bermuda (twice), swimming with the dolphins (my favorite), the Christmas parties, the summer cookouts. Those memories will live in our hearts forever. Those close to him are in pain now, but here are some words of wisdom, by William James, that may provide comfort to the bereaved, at least for the moment:
 
“We stand on a mountain pass in the midst of whirling snow and blinding mist, through which we get glimpses now and then of paths which may be deceptive. If we stand still we shall be frozen to death. If we take the wrong road we shall be dashed to pieces. We do not certainly know whether there is any right one. What must we do? 'Be strong and of good courage.' Act for the best, hope for the best, and take what comes. ... If death ends all, we cannot meet death better."

Nancy, Evan, Kevin, Kelly & Joanne ~ I was so sorry to hear of Randy's death.  I always enjoyed his camaraderie, his sense of humor and (absolutely loved) his disrespectful demeanor at our "company" parties which he for some unknown reason endured! It would seem that he lived a full and happy life...all that we can pray for.  He was a good fellow who will be sorely missed.  My condolences to you all.
