Robert "Bob" Wilson Stanhope, age 85, of Cockeysville, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Bob is survived by his wife, Sara C. Stanhope; daughter Jennifer M. Stanhope Lamoreux and her husband James A. Lamoreux, daughter Elizabeth A. Stanhope and her partner Keska Kemper; sister June S. Morse; and grandchildren Ryan A. and Alan R. Lamoreux, Ia K. Stanhope and Zwi S. Kemper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mida and Robert H. Stanhope; and sister M. Lynn Stanhope. Bob’s two big loves in life were his family and the natural world. After serving as the director of the Blue Hills Trailside Museum in Milton, Massachusetts, Bob moved to Baltimore County in 1980 to serve as Chief County Naturalist. He played a foundational role in establishing the Oregon Ridge Nature Center, Cromwell Valley Park, the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum, and the Marshy Point Nature Center. In lieu of flowers, donations to any of these parks are welcomed.
