

Tollesboro - Carrie VanCuren, 96, has gone to her home in heaven to be with her husband, Clayton for their walk through eternity with God. She was born in Scioto County, Ohio on February 28, 1917, the daughter of the late Mike and Sarah Swearingen. Mrs. VanCuren lived in Ribolt for many years and was a member of the Tollesboro United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and the Friendly Neighbors Homemakers Association. She was dearly loved by all and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her only son and his wife, Larry and Cyndee VanCuren of Tollesboro; two grandchildren, Amy Martin of Oregon and Aron C. VanCuren of California; seven great grandchildren, Anthony Martin, Alyssia Martin, Alanna More all of Oregon and Laceylorraine VanCuren, Jacob VanCuren, Rosalie VanCuren and Trayton Stillwell all of California and one great-great-grandchild, Braelynn Martin of Oregon. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Walter Swearinger and one sister, Lois Stamper. Funeral services for Carrie VanCuren will be held at the Tollesboro United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM Monday, June 24, 2013 with Rev. Silas Ripato officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM. The arrangements are under the direction of Barbour and Son Funeral Home.
