

TOLLESBORO- Gordon Daniel “Danny” Hook, 49, died Saturday August 3, 2013 at the University of Cincinnati after a brave battle. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky on July 26, 1964, the son of the late Raymond “Jack” and Erma Hord Hook.
Mr. Hook graduated from Tollesboro High School. He formerly worked as a self-employed contractor for area businesses in flooring installation. He was an avid sportsman of NASCAR, Basketball, Football and Golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sandi Applegate Hook, a daughter Tiffany Ann Hook and a grand-daughter Rilee Faith Helterbrand all of Tollesboro. Also, surviving are his sister Adrienne “ Nina Hook” Truesdell and a nephew Chase Holt both of Vanceburg, a niece Abigail Gaines of Tollesboro, a great nephew Alex Holt of Augusta; brother and sister in-law, Ashley (Amanda) Gaines, and his father and mother in law, Robert “Bob” (Janet) Applegate all of Tollesboro.
In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Daniel (Cora Soister) Hook, his maternal grandparents, Adrian (Pauline Applegate) Hord, and his brother in law, Gary Dean Truesdell.
Funeral services for Danny Hook will be held at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2013 with Brother Bruce Heller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hord Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, Kentucky with Brad Williamson, Charles Dearing, Gilbert Dixon, Terry Thomas, Keith Applegate, and Ashley Gaines serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Applegate, Amanda Gaines, Chase Holt, Jason Kielman, Ricky Hilterbrandt and Roger Smith.
