

Harold Franklin “Buster” Vance, 80 of Tollesboro passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 at the Care Center at Kenton Point with all his family around him following a short illness. He was born on November 22, 1931 the son of the late William and Jessee Frye Vance of Concord. He retired from the Carnation Company in Maysville after 41 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, playing horse shoes, playing cornhole and fishing and boating. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Shirley Jean O’Connell Vance, four children, Linda (Darrell) Mullikin, Barbara Edmond, Becky Simms, Allan Vance. He also left behind three grandchildren, Lori Mullikin, Jason Edmond, Scott Vance and one great grandchild Scott Lucas Vance, one sister Ruth Fetters of Lexington. Preceding him in death was a son Douglas Wayne Vance, sister Thelma Himes and a brother Tom Vance. Funeral services for Harold Vance will be Sunday at 2 P.M. at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home with Brother Lovell Grigson, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the McClug Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Mullikin, Kent Renchen, Bill Thoroughman, Johnny Ginn, Bob Netherland, and Roger Kinnett. Honorary bearers are Dickie Mason, Arvid Howell, Tommy Truesdell, and Dave Duncan. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m.
