Anita Beverly “Debby” Schumack
Our Aunt Debby passed away on April 23, 2020 at Complete Care at Arbors in Toms River, NJ. She was born in Pottsville, PA, with family members in Mauch Chunk (Jim Thorpe, PA) and Shenandoah, PA. Her family then settled in Allentown, PA where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She attended William Allen High School and West Chester Teachers College (University) and was employed by Bell Telephone, Wyeth Labs and Unity House (in the Pocono Mountains). In 1975, Anita moved to Florida, working at the Boca Hotel, Calusa Elementary School and in the Florida school system. After 40 years in Florida, Anita moved to Toms River, NJ, to be closer to her family. She enjoyed her cozy apartment at “The Haven”, partaking in all activities they had to offer. She most enjoyed the family get-togethers in the Social Room.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anita Mary (Gualco) Schumack and Stanley J. Schumack, and her only sibling, Joanne Marie Coffey. She is survived by her devoted brother-in-law, Frederick E. Coffey of Malvern, PA (formerly of Yardley, PA and Toms River, NJ), her six nieces and nephews: Laura Coffey (Joe Duff), Kathleen Entwisle (Donavon Mottley), Michael Coffey (Kim), Amy Ritter (Matt), Allison “Lamb” Coffey (Greg Holson) and Christopher Coffey (Stacey Spangler). She will also be missed by her nine great-nieces and nephews: Clinton Bradley, Annie Entwisle, Michael and Emily Coffey, Lilly and Anna Ritter, Mitchel, Mallory and Van Holson.
Anita will also be fondly remembered by her longtime, loyal friends, Debbie Steele and family, of Boca Raton, FL, and her many friends at Seacrest Presbyterian Church, Delray Beach, where she was a devoted member. She was also a proud member of the Foster Grandparents Program.
Anita much enjoyed vacation time spent with her sister, her family and friends in Bucks County and Lehigh County, PA.
Family and friends may leave their condolences at HorizonFuneralServices.com.
