Anita R. Bruett

Anita grew up in Bloomfield, attended Bloomfield schools and graduated from Bloomfield College and received her teaching degree. Anita was a science teacher in South River for 31 years. She was also Teacher of the Year.

She moved to Holiday City South in Toms River in 2007. Anita belonged to the Y.M.C.A. where she took aquatic lessons and eventually became a substitute instructor. She met and made many friends there. In the summer, she taught water aerobics in the Holiday City South pool every morning at 9:00. Her classes grew larger every year. She also made many friends there. Anita also enjoyed painting as a hobby. After COVID, she joined Toms River Fitness for her water classes.

Anita leaves behind her beloved cat, Kitty, her boyfriend and caregiver, Gary Jagemann, and her long time friends from college, Linda Anderson and Heidi Kielt.

Donations can be made in her name to the Popcorn Park Zoo Sanctuary, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731.

Anita's memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm, at Horizon Funeral and Cremation service.
