Barbara V. Gunn

Barbara V. Gunn of Toms River passed away on October 27 at Hackensack Meridian Ocean University, Brick.  She was born in Elizabeth NJ and grew up in Rahway.  She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Ethyl Vanderminde; her sister Carol Brummett; and her husband Hugh J. Gunn.  The couple had six children and lived in Rutherford and Oakland, NJ before moving to Plantation, FL.  After the death of her beloved husband in 1971, she relocated to Toms River with her children. 

In 1976, she was employed at the Naval Air Engineering Center, Lakehurst.  She worked as an Administrative Officer and retired in 1997.  In retirement, she enjoyed the years spent with her children and grandchildren as well as her trips each winter to Florida. 

Survivors include her four sons: Hugh Gunn and his wife Mary, of Toms River; Robert Gunn of West Palm Beach, FL; James Gunn and his wife Bernadette, of Waretown; David Gunn and his wife Alexis of Sarasota, FL; her daughters, Diane Miles and her husband, William, of Albuquerque, NM; Chrisanne Starrett and her, husband John of Brick; grandchildren, Evan and Lauren Gunn; Kevin and Brian Starrett; Christopher and Stephanie Gunn.  A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3 from 4 – 6 at Horizon Funeral Home, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 4 at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ 08757.
