Barbara J. Kennedy, affectionately known as "Bobbie" to her dearest friends and family, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, following a stroke the previous day. She was 89 years old and resided in Holiday City West, Berkeley Township, NJ.
Born on September 2, 1936, Barbara was the daughter of the late Ruth and Charles Brooks. She spent her formative years growing up in Newark and Verona, New Jersey. Barbara built a successful professional life, beginning her career as a dedicated Executive Assistant at Electronic Associates Incorporated (EAI), and later applying her expertise as the Office Manager for Software Shop.
Bobbie will be remembered for her kind spirit and generous nature. She possessed an infectious warmth that drew people to her, and she was truly loved by all who knew her. A natural hostess, Barbara, alongside her late husband, Donald Kennedy, loved to entertain and their home was the central gathering place for all family events. Their house was known for its love, laughter, and fun times—a tradition that continued even into Barbara's final days. When she wasn't surrounded by a house full of people, she enjoyed her quiet time watching television and listening to her favorite jazz standards.
Barbara joins in heaven her beloved husband, Donald Kennedy, her parents, Ruth and Charles Brooks, and her siblings, Nancy and Richard.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Karen (and her husband, Joe) and Cheryl (and her husband, Gregory). She is also survived by her sister, Pat. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Natalie (and her husband, Eric), and her great-grandchildren, Cooper and Kenzi. She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Nancy, her cherished surrogate daughter, Patti, and her devoted caregiver and "Angel," Tammy.
Visitation will be held at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The funeral service for Bobbie is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 9:00 am at the funeral home.
A committal service will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ 07083, at 11:00 am.
The family would love you to join them immediately following the burial as they continue to celebrate Bobbie at Triestina Ristorante, 515 Centennial Ave., Cranford, NJ
